While my daughter and I were cutting up hearts to make the “Tangled up in Love wreath” we also decided to decorate the mantel, once again almost all of the items we used we already had on hand.
The antique window that I found curbside, sets the backdrop for my little V-day vignette.
Foil doilies, hand cut hearts cut from scrap paper, ribbon . . .
an apothecary jar filled with strawberry flavored candy sticks, a silver charger from Christmas Tree Shops and a “Be Mine” sign that was purchased at Target for $2.50, complete my V-day mantel.
I took a break from the photo shoot and came back to find a decorated chalk board added to the equation . . . I guess my 11 year old thought it needed a little something extra . . .
My daughter and I made the heart garland by simply cutting paper into strips, folding them in half and gluing the inside points of the hearts together.
My amaryllis grew so tall before it finally bloomed. One day one of my children accidentally snapped the stem, I came home to find it scotch taped back together and it actually still bloomed beautifully! This is the first that I’ve ever grown, (a gift from my boss) this one has proven to be quite resilient.
Hope your 2012 is filled with love!
