Lately, I’ve been slowly working on updating the boys’ shared bedroom. We went out with the red, white and blue bedroom decor and are toning it down a bit to grey, white, and a little yellow, which was totally inspired by a lil Target area rug. I loved the classic red, white and blue decor, but it’s time for a change and we are ready to simplify. This isn’t a major update, so the walls are staying the same, we’ll probably even keep the same rug. This post contains affiliate links for your convenience. Anywho, I recently made a trip to Target and they were having an amazing clearance sale. I picked up this adorable wall taxidermy animal head vase (bear? wolf? ) I really don’t know, lol, either way it was under $10 AND I grabbed this new touch lamp.
Do you remember touch lamps from like the 90’s they were so popular! After bringing this home, each of my kids asked for one! They thought it was the coolest thing since snapchat 😉
We had also purchased a new bunk bed about 6 months ago from Ikea in hopes to get Kyle to sleep in his own bed and out of our bed. The bunk bed is great because it’s very low to the ground so we don’t have to worry about any bumps or bruises with him falling out of a traditional big boy bed. The top bunk is also low which is nice, for when my adventurous 7 year old decides to jump from the top bunk!
Well I decided I needed something for the wall, to go over this lil mid-mod dresser my hubby picked up, and this lil area rug, was exactly what I needed.
I grabbed an thick needle, a pole, some yarn and some thread . . .
I placed the pole 1/4 way from the top of the rug and folded it over.
With my threaded needle, I sewed a quick little knot on each side of the rug.
Then took a length of yarn, doubles it up and tied a knot on each side of the pole.
And like that, I had a “Wall Tapestry”
and best yet . . . The boys approve!
Hope you’re inspired,

This is so cool, Carli! I never would have thought that you used a rug to make this. This tapestry DIY was right up my alley in terms of being quick and easy!
Thanks Whitney! and seriously if it werent going in the boys' room, I probably would have skipped the the little stitch step, lol, and just hung the rug over the bar.
such great idea Carli! I love it!
Thank You Alaya!
Love this. Now you're going to have me looking for small rugs but for the wall.
