Tub/Shower Reveal with Modern Polished Brass Fixtures

This post is in collaboration with Kingston Brass, a brand I trust and recommend.  All stated opinions are 100% my own.

When we set out to renovate the bathroom we knew that we wanted to preserve the shower tile.  For the most part, it was in okay shape, it was laid well, in a subway pattern–classic.  Except one thing—it was PINK!

Sure it needed some cleaning and a bit of repair, but I had seen all of the blog posts and tutorials about painting tile and was sure it was something we could tackle too.  With updated, clean, white tile, and some stunning tub/shower fixtures I knew that I could make this bathroom shine, (for the meantime anyway.)

You see, this bathroom renovation was sort of a phase 2.5 renovation, we opened it up, added new drywall, new floors, and made it look pretty darn pretty, however, we weren’t quite ready to tackle a full tub/shower renovation.

With the use of one of those tub/tile refinishing kits, we were able to transform those tacky pink tile walls into a beautiful and classic design.  I promise to share more thoughts on this is a subsequent post.  To be honest, it is not perfect, and I can’t say that I would 100% recommend it, but due to our time frame we just took what we thought would be the easier and less expensive route, and it is, however a huge improvement.  But what really took this tub/shower combo to the next level were the fixtures!

After choosing a polished brass sink and faucet, I knew that I wanted something that was similar in style for my tub and shower faucet fixtures.  And while I am a huge fan of mixing metals, in this instance, I wanted everything to match, or at least coordinate in finish and style.

While I could have switched the set out for a modern single dial as opposed to the 3 handles that we have, I again was thinking–what would be easiest at this point.  I narrowed down my search based on finish and came across the Kingston Brass Concord 3-Handle Tub and Shower Faucet in Polished Brass.  This combination was a PERFECT compliment to my sink faucets.

Honestly my genuine hope with this set was to distract from our kind of boring tile, and boy does it ever.

I love that the set is made with sturdy brass construction that combines modern design in a classic finish.

I especially love the shiny finish and how it pops against the bright white, it actually gives the tub/shower a special little design moment–Ahhh, all the heart eyes!

This is a beautiful set that we will be able to enjoy for years to come.

So, naturally, when my  tub/shower fixtures arrived and were installed, I realized that I had forgotten all about the drain overflow kit, so I placed another order from Kingston Brass for the Drain Kit.   And then . . . because I’m EXTRA, my eyes diverted to my toilet, and I realized it was the only piece of chrome in the bathroom, and that just wouldn’t do.

So I went ahead and placed the order for the matching toilet tank handle/lever.  Which was a super easy change, I’ll be sharing more on that in the next few days too.

I am really happy with this update, it was truly the perfect finish for this bathroom renovation.

Thank you to Kingston Brass for providing the tub/shower faucet for this project!

Phenomenal transformation! I adore the modern finishes. I probably wouldn't have stopped until everything was matching, either! Lol… You should be proud, because this is gorgeous.

I love your use of traditional + modern elements. Would you mind sharing how your Kensington Brass fixtures are holding up?

Thank you! They are holding up very well, as with any type of polished material, they need to be polished if you want to keep them shiny, but it’s pretty simple to do. They are very solid products though.
