If there’s one thing I love, it’s an easy craft! There’s something satsifying about taking a few materials and having a finished product in only a matter of 20 minutes (or less). And this DIY Dish Towel Wall Hanging is exactly that easy craft! It’s a fun way to add a little whimsy to your walls.
A few months ago, I wondered into Crate and Barrel to browse, and I happened upon these awesome dish towel sets and a lightbulb went off! I was going to turn them into beautiful lumbar pillow covers, but alas, that never happened, and they sat in the bag for months just waiting to be used.
Well after boredom struck during quarantine, I decided to gather some materials which I had on hand, and got to work! This DIY wall hanging costs me less than $15 to make and goes amazingly with my daughter’s modern boho bedroom vibe.
If you want to make one, scroll on down for what to do!
Gather your materials
- Cute dish towel
- Twine
- Hot glue gun and glue stick
- Small dowel (mine was 1/4″ square dowel) cut to size
- Ruler/tape measure
Cut your dowel so that it extends at least an inch to an inch and a half beyond your “tapestry” dish towel. I used my miter saw to cut mine. If you are looking for something even easier, forage for a nice stick in your yard, like I used for this wall hanging a while back.
Flip your dish towel over and align your dowel at the top.
Run a bead of hot glue on your dowel . . .
And fold the dish towel slightly over onto the hot glue. Press the cloth firmly onto the dowel to ensure it is attached well.
Tie a knot with your twine at each end of your dowel, snipping any excess twine so that it looks neat and hang!
