I remember when I was a young girl, I would go waltzing through the mall with my friends, and we would journey into Macy’s and stop at the beauty counters, spritz on perfume, and then later exit through the housewares department. I remember seeing the wedding registry displays and thinking, “I can’t wait to register for my wedding one day!” We would point out the things that we would put on our list when that special moment happened for us. But it never happened; when my husband and I got married 17 years ago, we were young, we had already started a family, and didn’t want to burden anyone (and honestly didn’t want a whole lot out of life but to be happy together.)
I didn’t have a bridal shower and didn’t even consider registering for gifts. With wedding season looking very different this year, I can see how brides and wedding guests alike might be feeling unsure about gift-giving/receiving, and may even consider forgoing the celebrations like I did.
But this is a moment in time that you can’t get back, it’s important that the festivities are celebrated safely, including making a gift registry.
