Friends! Today I am sharing the first of many updates that will take place in what might be my favorite outdoor area here at the Hosta House: the courtyard. It’s this little area off of the breezeway, between the garage and the house that creates a perfect little nook for entertaining, and it was the space here that I knew from the very beginning had great potential. And after browsing the Bed Bath & Beyond website and checking out their selection of outdoor furniture, I felt inspired to make this space better before summer.
When we first moved here the area was completely overgrown with hostas and weeds, but I envisioned string lights, pavers or pea gravel patio, and outdoor furniture to really give this area a sense of purpose. It has this secret garden type feeling, as it’s rather private and once all of the greenery grows in (and is maintained), I think it will be quite beautiful. And then eventually, I’d love to transform this area to an outdoor dining room, but baby steps . . .
Here’s where we started (after lots of raking and weed clearing):
I started out by hanging some string lights to really define the space.
Bed Bath & Beyond has a wonderful selection of stylish patio furniture to really help you step into your best backyard! From their website, I chose this adorable Bee & Willow™ Home Elmridge 3-Piece Wicker Outdoor Bistro Set. It has a heavy duty steel frame, and is great because the chairs are stackable for easy storing. I love all things wicker, and I think that this set has a really stylish and timeless design (and it also comes in white!)
Along with the bistro set, I decided to buy the Bee & Willow™ Home Fringe Market Umbrella. I love how the little fringe adds a touch of whimsy to the area and will be great for blocking the sun and keeping us cool when the summer heat hits.
Speaking of summer heat, I couldn’t forget about my little guy. When I saw this fun rainbow run-through sprinkler, I immediately thought of Kyle.
Although it’s not quite warm enough to put it to use, he had a blast running under it over and over again.
While we still have lots to add in this area, I love how these great items from Bed Bath and Beyond helped bring this space together.
