Hi friends! About a year ago, I tackled this project and just recently realized I never shared about it here on the blog.
it’s no secret that the best way to jazz up a staircase is to add a stair runner. Rug runners add interest, they soften a staircase for sound and safety, and protect your stair treads . . . AND, best of all, it’s a fairly easy DIY.

The staircase in our fixer upper was less than ideal, I’m pretty sure it was fully carpeted at one time, but it was looking pretty rough when we got here (See above).
So for a relatively quick fix, I went ahead and stained the treads (like I did here) with Minwax Gel Stain, and painted the risers black.

HOW TO DIY A STAIR RUNNER
Next, it was time to take the attention away from the stair’s imperfections and to focus on this beautiful new flat weave runner in a chevron print from Rugs Usa. I shared all about this process almost a year ago on their blog: The Roll-Out.

I love how this stair runner adds interest without making the hallway feel too busy. Head to The Roll-Out for my full tutorial!
