Friends! The day has come, I’m thrilled to share the reveal of our new fireplace built-ins in the sitting room.
As I mentioned last month, I’ve wanted shelves in here since we moved in three years ago, and today, it’s finally a reality. But before we get to the after, let’s check out where we started:
The doorway to the right leads to our foyer, and the doorway on the left leads to the kitchen breakfast nook. You may notice that the doors are very different in size, and that’s because the bump out on the left is actually the tiny tub/shower that was installed in the first-floor bathroom.
Here’s the space when we had a dark accent wall (color is Barnwood Gray by Sherwin Williams)
As much as I love the improvement on the fireplace, I really felt like the space could be even better and much more interesting.
Let’s check out the after:
My firewood storage cubby is my absolute favorite part. It adds character and gives it a nice lived in/rustic feel.
I can’t get over how much interest the shelves add to the space–at only 9″ deep, there’s plenty of room to hold most books, vases, and decorative bowls.
Although I still need to finish the top, (still waiting on our ceiling update), I’m in love.
Here you can see where we tried to scrape the popcorn ceilings to no avail.
