Moody Mudroom Mood Board

Hey everyone, welcome back to my mudroom renovation journey! So far we’ve tackled the basics, we’ve updated the paint, we’ve built in some new shoe storage and we’ve even tackled a unique floor treatment.  And although this is a little backward, today, we are talking mood board.

I had to laugh because anytime I design spaces for friends, family, or clients, I always create a mood board, but when it comes to my own projects, I very rarely do so. I’ve realized that since the creative direction that this mudroom has taken is so far from my norm, it might be a good idea to create a mood board to help guide the rest of the way.

So I spent some time today, and this is what I came up with:

1. Wood Planked Ceiling: To add warmth and texture to the space, creating a cozy atmosphere while also adding visual interest to the ceiling area.
2.  Pendant Light: We’ve had this light since the first mudroom iteration and because I haven’t found another that I have to have, I’ve decided to keep it as is.
3.  Cute Watering Can: Perfect for nurturing the plants on the window shelves.
4.  Wall Mount NotePad: Ideal for jotting down quick notes, reminders, or grocery lists, and it’s so cute too!
5.  Mail Sorter: I haven’t decided on building cubbies yet, so if I don’t this will help streamline the organization of incoming mail, preventing clutter in the kitchen and ensuring important documents are easily accessible.
6.  Wall Sconce (set of 2): This battery-powered sconce will offer additional lighting and ambiance, to the space without having to call my electrician for new wiring work.
7.  Wall Hook for keys: Keeps keys easily accessible and prevents them from being lost.
8.  New Door Lock Set: Our lockset is in rough shape, the finish is worn and the lock is a little sticky.
9.  Upholstered Bulletin Board: Although I purchased this exact bulletin board, I think I’m going to make my own large one to fit into the old window opening, to provide a stylish way to display notes, and important school papers to help clear off my refrigerator.
10.  Hyacinth baskets (set of 4): Ideal for storing hats, scarves, gloves, and beach gear, keeping the space organized and clutter-free while adding a natural, rustic touch.
11.  Behr Paint In Patio Stone: Sets the tone for the mudroom’s moody color scheme.
12.  Shower Curtain (plaid fabric): Adds a cohesive touch by incorporating the same fabric used in the nearby breakfast window seat, tying the two spaces together seamlessly.
13. 14. 15. Pillows for the bench seat making the bench seat a cozy spot to sit while adding pops of color and pattern to the decor.

16. Scalloped edge jute rug: Couldn’t resist this scalloped edge rug, can’t wait to see what it looks like in person.

17. Bamboo Shoe rack: These shoe racks efficiently organize shoes while also adding a natural, earthy element to the decor. (I used the shelves from these racks and built them into the space).
