WFMW (Backwards Edition)-Decorating Above Kitchen Cabinets: Help Needed

We Are THAT Family, is hosting a WFMW backwards edition party and I am posting this as my dilemma:  How to accessorize the tops of kitchen cabinets?  I am truly baffled by this!

Case in point, my kitchen cabinets (as you may have seen in my last post, not the best picture, but the only one I have on my pc at the moment):

I hate to dust clutter so I tend not to just throw “anything” up there, but the cabinets looked so bare, so then I decided to just throw “anything” up there and I kinda think it looks stupid.  If you have a way with arranging/decorating things above your cabinets, please, please do advise, because I am simply clueless!

Mine was the same way for awhile, but with our vaulted ceilings, it looked REALLY REALLY bare. We have big leather vases with tall flowers/grasses to take up some space. Since it looks like you don't have a lot of room in between the tops and ceiling, what about doing a ivy/greenery type swag of some sort? My mother in law did that in her kitchen and it looked really nice. Good luck!

Some people do fake plants. I've seen pretty vases used. I use cake stands and decorative china pieces that I seldom use. Hope that helps!

I totally stink at above the cabinet decorating, otherwise I would advise you. My best advice would be to snoop around your favorite blog's and search "kitchen" to see what they have done. My problem is that I have yet to repaint my kitchen. I sort of hate it right now. Good luck!

I use glass stuff that is dishwasher safe. I love glass bottles and such, so I put them up there. When things start looking dusty, into the dishwasher they go, so it's easy to care for and keep looking good.

I am in the same rut, mine are totally bare right now and the one thing that i am honestly conderising doing is buying some really nice baskets, spacing them out nicely and using them for storage with pretty tag labels. i know its not decoration but i think it would look really clean and give me lots of room for organization, i dont know though!

Glad you asked this question – I've never been good with that area of my kitchen. The area above my cabinets is currently…..bare.

Hi Carly,Firstly, thank you for your visit at Bird Crafts and sweet comment! I loove comments :)Second, how gorgoeus ar your kids!!! And you look sooo young to have 3!! What's your secret? Do tell!! :)I too have space above, so I choose my best glassware and crockery and put up there. Not very original, but works for me! I thought of a plant but often those places are quite dark, isn't it?Vintage glass bottles are also cool or make some large ones struffed with preserved lemons, peppers, chillies? Thanks again and hope you find a solution!
